We arrived in Laredo, TX on Sunday evening. We got settled into our rooms, had a quick orientation and dinner with the Habitat staff and groups of students from Iowa State, and then spent the rest of the night hanging around.
Today we started our work in Laredo. We had a later start than usual because of some rain recently. But that didn’t slow us down! We were split into two groups for our work. One group is working inside on insulation and the other outside on siding and trim.
I am a part of the group working inside on the insulation. I’ve learned to dislike fiberglass. It’s itchy and get everywhere. There is a chance the fiberglass shards made it in my gum. But in all seriousness, insulating a house is hard work when you’re 5’4″. Try as I might, I can’t really help with the ceiling.
Tonight we’re doing a dinner at the Habitat for Humanity Center. After dinner we’re either going to downtown Laredo or walking down by the river.
All in all, I think there is a group consensus of being spent and/or exhausted… but NOT tired! Tomorrow is another day. More to come..
